At the Ipswich River Wildlife Refuge in Topsfield, Massachusetts. Today, I also saw 3 deer, several red squirrels, Tree Swallows, Cow Birds, a baby Garter Snake, some huge bullfrogs, and a mess of tadpoles.

My fascination with the rocks of Cape Ann continues. Here, on a very foggy evening with a flat sea, the shoreline of Lanesville shows off its granite boulders and small, reflective, tidal pools.

This was my first trip to Appleton Farms in Hamilton, MA in a couple of months and I was not disappointed. The rows of ancient oaks still line the entrance road, and over 300 years of farming history warm the shadows on an early spring afternoon.

Streetlights and ribbon-like reflections in Gloucester Harbor

Even though the streetlights along the boulevard of Western Avenue in Gloucester, MA are excessively bright, their reflections in the calm harbor do have a magical quality.
