I learned yesterday that this photograph of the Rough Meadows Wildlife Sanctuary in Rowley, Massachusetts was selected as the Grand Prize winner of a photo contest sponsored by the Massachusetts Audubon Society. The photo was made on December 9, 2012 late in the day, preserving the tonal range by combining 3 separate exposures using HDR (high dynamic range technique). The sanctuary is jointly managed by Mass Audubon and Essex County Greenbelt and encompasses spectacular coastal woodlands, salt marshes, tidal creeks, and salt pannes. Click to visit
