The tide is high and the wind is very gusty on this first week in June. The rental kayaks on Bearskin Neck in Rockport are full of rainwater and the lobster fisherman are not venturing out into the stormy surf. My camera and lenses are wet and this is a glorious day for photography on Cape Ann.
Today, I ventured to Cape Ann hoping to make some interpretive wildflower photographs. These would be more more dreamy than some of my earlier work. One image here is unidentified. Can you help?
As always, these photographs are available as fine art prints or as licensed stock images.

I’ve known this family for a long time. Don’t they look great?
At the Ipswich River Wildlife Refuge in Topsfield, Massachusetts. Today, I also saw 3 deer, several red squirrels, Tree Swallows, Cow Birds, a baby Garter Snake, some huge bullfrogs, and a mess of tadpoles.
A quiet morning of photography at the Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary in Topsfield, Massachusetts. I used an extension tube on a 50mm f1.4 lens for close focusing capability.
My fascination with the rocks of Cape Ann continues. Here, on a very foggy evening with a flat sea, the shoreline of Lanesville shows off its granite boulders and small, reflective, tidal pools.

This was my first trip to Appleton Farms in Hamilton, MA in a couple of months and I was not disappointed. The rows of ancient oaks still line the entrance road, and over 300 years of farming history warm the shadows on an early spring afternoon.

On a perfect spring morning in the fishing village of Rockport on Cape Ann, Massachusetts, just a few lobster boats are moored in the calm harbor. In June the recreational boats will start showing up—but for now, these protected waters are the exclusive domain of commercial fishermen. The ice cream shops and gift shops on Bearskin Neck are still shuttered, and you can get a parking spot downtown pretty much anywhere you please. Today, a couple of fisherman and their wives are pushing strollers on Main Street. One proud father is boasting about how much his infant likes being on board his boat.
